The John Howard Society of Red Deer is recruiting an energetic individual to join our team as Casual Casworker for our Community Based Residential Facility. This position consists of daytime, evening, night, weekends and statutory holiday schedule. Starting salary is $15.00 an hour. Additionally there is vacation pay and the opportunity for future professional growth. This facility serves individuals who are released by the National Parole Board into our care. Responsibilities include building a strong rapport with residents, tracking offender movement, monitoring behavior and/or return to substance abuse, making referrals to community agencies/resources, reporting any parole violations to Correctional Services Canada, and maintaining the security and dynamics of the facility.

- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Post secondary education in the Human Services field
- Human Service experience
- Must be assertive, effective, confident communicator that is comfortable enforcing rules and regulations to the offender population
- Be a strong team player
- Position requires a Criminal Record Check as well as First Aid/CPR
- Must have excellent problem solving skills
- Must be able to set professioinal boundaries with our residents
- Must be available for shift-work including weekends and holidays
